The Galician blue lobster from the Ria is a very scarce seafood because for many years there was an overexploitation of this appreciated and valued Galician seafood, currently and thanks to the repopulation of the species is getting that there are certain quantities in the different fish markets of the Rias Baixas.

The Galician blue lobster from the Ria is very difficult to distinguish from the common blue lobster. In general, it differs from the blue lobster in that the Galician lobster has light spots while the common one is usually very dark. Cooked it is more difficult to distinguish them, but if they are tasted the difference is great in their flavor due to the nutrients they receive from the waters of the Rías, like many of the Galician crustaceans.

They can be caught in the Galician coasts from January 1st to March 31st and from July 1st to December 31st.
